Geoff Odlum

Geoff Odlum is the President of Odlum Global Strategies, which advises government and corporate clients on national security and technology policy issues and helps emerging technology companies work with the U.S. State Department. Geoff was a State Department Foreign Service Officer for 28 years, serving as a diplomat throughout Europe and the Middle East and as a national security policymaker in Washington, including as Director of the Office of Preventing Nuclear Terrorism, Director of the Office of Iraq Affairs, and Senior Advisor for Middle East Energy Diplomacy. While serving at the State Department, Geoff negotiated a number of nuclear security agreements, managed a $7 million countering nuclear smuggling program, represented the US Government at global Summits and Ministerials, briefed Presidents and Secretaries of State, and built an extensive global network of innovative thought leaders. Geoff is also a Special Warfare Instructor with Motive International, instructing US Army Special Operations Forces at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in governance and counter-governance tools and frameworks. Geoff has been a speaker at a number of United Nations events on AI’s impacts on global security, a guest lecturer in foreign policy at the George Washington University, and a technology startup mentor with the USG-funded startup studio FedTech.io. Geoff has a Masters degree in National Security Studies from the National War College (National Defense University), and a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
