Team:
We are an expert team comprised of former senior US Government leaders, top academic researchers, and successful serial entrepreneurs. We offer unique insights into digital technologies, covering topics such as AI and its implications in cybersecurity, law, diplomacy, surveillance, privacy, ethics and others. With cumulative decades of experience in technology, policy analyses and communications, our team possesses capabilities highly sought-after on the world stage.
Agility: A strength of the Foundry's virtual advisory group compared to large management consultancies is its artisanal and agile ability to dig below mainstream media and re-purposed, anecdotal evidence to deliver unique and timely insight. This is enabled in part by being location agnostic. Experts are based initially in all major US innovation, business and policy hubs, such as Silicon Valley; Washington, D.C.; New York City; Denver; and later also in select locations in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa. Globally distributed with diverse backgrounds, our team engages corporate leaders, senior policymakers, international organizations, international financial institutions, NGOs, and civil society organizations on-site seamlessly and thus maintains the rare international perspective needed in border-agnostic digital technologies.
Goal: Identify and assess emerging technologies and their impact on the policy environment and responses, especially regarding critical digital issues such as artificial intelligence (AI).
Challenge:
Digital technologies pervade our society - driving the global economy via the internet and governing States - but a synthesized and applied understanding of their trends and implications is lacking among global corporations and governments. As enabling as our ones and zeros are today, they present both opportunities and risks to humanity. AI facilitates billion-dollar companies and will be a locomotive for future economic growth, but it also challenges senior policymakers in its rapid pace of development and will have a profound impact on international leadership and the current global order. Cybersecurity issues remain a major concern as they continue to threaten economic growth and put States at risk daily. A virtual organization comprised of global experts is an essential tool in informing and guiding C-suite leadership and senior policymakers in their digital decision-making.
Offerings:
We are based in our home regions and countries and thus can engage directly with our local and national leaders with consideration of local regulations, language and culture. We assess core topics directly affected by AI such as shifting power dynamics, safety, ethics, the changing character of conflict, and prospects for cooperation. Leveraging proven subject matter expertise, we provide distinctive thought products and expert briefings with recommendations to corporations and senior policymakers. We interface with the technical AI research community to fill capability gaps expressed or derived from interactions with corporations and governments, as well as leverage a global network for the good of clients. Certain analysis and insights are made publicly available via occasional expert roundtables. Additional output includes and workshops and conferences on emerging and disruptive technologies.
